Doing a Get Info on this new webloc from Firefox still shows Safari as the default program, but when I double click these Firefox created files, they do properly open in Firefox.Ī number of users have reported similar issues on Apple’s support forum. Changing the default browser to Firefox and creating a new webloc file from Firefox also creates a file with a generic white icon. I don’t think the webloc files themselves are damaged, as I can Quick Look them all properly. Webloc files are all generic white file icons, even those on disks that weren’t attached to my Mac when I updated and older versions on Time Machine. What I find interesting is that I’ve never seen exactly this issue before. Having read your last several emails, I’ve been planning to try safe mode. I installed the latest update last night, without any change. I only used recover mode, ran Disk FIrst Aid, and then restarted - without benefit. Thanks to the eagle-eyed Jeff Johnson for spotting this, after I had just checked unsuccessfully for updates. There are currently no signs of any security updates for earlier versions of macOS. I don’t yet have a direct download link, but when I have located one I will post it here. It’s hard to know whether the latter of those is an installation error, a fix for a bug, or something new altogether. This also appears to contain version 2106, but lacks the database file gk.db in its resources.
